Our Faculty 
SIU College of Business faculty members are leading the charge in providing cutting-edge, world class business education to students in each of our degree programs and majors.  Members of our faculty are known nationally and internationally for their contributions in teaching, research and service in their respecitive fields.
 
Students in the online masters program are fortunate to study with the same full-time faculty members who teach our traditional programs, and will recieve the same challenge, attention and interaction as students who choose the brick-and-mortar classroom.

J. Dennis Cradit - Dean, College of Business
Dennis Cradit was named Dean of the College of Business in August, 2006, bringing 25 years of experience in teaching, research and business consulting. Dr. Cradit’s research interests focus on marketing segmentation, quantitative methods, and business-to-business marketing. His scholarly work has appeared in such journals as the Journal of Marketing Research, the Journal of Retailing, Psychometrika, the Journal of Mathematical Psychology, and Multivariate Behavioral Research, among others.  He has served as business consultant for a number of public and private-sector companies. A Texas native, Cradit holds a bachelor's degree from the University of Missouri-Columbia, and master's and doctoral degrees, both from the University of Iowa.
Wallace N Davidson - Henry J. Rehn Professor of Finance, Department of Finance
Dr. Davidson, The Henry J. Rehn Professor of Finance, has been awarded many honors during his time at the College of Business.  He earned the Outstanding 2007 Research Honor Roll Award and Outstanding Undergraduate Teacher Honor Roll Award, and was one of only nine honored as outstanding teachers for the University's "Excellence Through Commitment" awards the same year.  In all, he has won more than a dozen teaching awards from the College. He has also produced many continuing education seminars and online classes for the Professional Development Institute and American Institute of CPAs.
Allan Karnes - KPMG Tax Research Professor, School of Accountancy
Allan Karnes, the KPMG Tax Research Professor of Accountancy, has a well-balanced background in education and business. He joined SIU College of Business in 1981, and brought with him many years of public accounting experience. He served as Director of the School of Accountancy from 1995 to 2005.  A native of northern Indiana, Karnes earned bachelor's and master's degrees from Ball State University.  He was certified as a public accountant in Illinois in 1979. Karnes also earned a law degree from SIU School of Law in 1986 and was admitted to the bar that same year. Professor Karnes focuses on taxation and law, partnership and individual taxation; unauthorized disclosures of tax returns and return information and marital relations.
Donna Margolis - Assistant Dean and Director, Business Career Services, Business Placement Center
Dean Margolis brings a connection from the real world to students through her extensive list of professional and academic experiences.  As a public accountant, she has worked in offices in San Francisco, CA and in St. Louis, MO for the respective firms, Ernst & Young and PriceWaterhouse Coopers.  She also served as the chief financial officer for United Science Industries in Woodlawn, IL.  Dean Margolis has transferred this experience to help students at Southern Illinois University, where she has taught accounting courses.
Suzanne Altobello Nasco - Associate Professor of Marketing, Department of Marketing
Dr. Suzanne Nasco joined the SIUC faculty in 2002. Her teaching experience also includes previous positions at University of Florida, Indiana University and University of Notre Dame.  Dr. Nasco's educational background includes a bachelor’s degree in psychology from University of Florida (1993) and a doctorate in social psychology from University of Notre Dame (1999). The College of Business presented Dr. Nasco with a Faculty Scholar Award in 2005 and an Outstanding Quality in Research Award in 2003. She has also been nominated for either Outstanding Undergraduate or Graduate Teacher of the Year every year since 2004.  
Reed Nelson - Professor of Management, Department of Management
Professor Nelson teaches applied managerial research, organizational behavior, organizational theory, small business management, leadership and management, organizational change and research methods.Dr. Nelson joined the College of Business faculty in 1991, and has been honored with the Graduate Teaching Honor Roll Award five times and the Undergraduate Teaching Honor Roll Award twice. In 2002, Nelson won the Outstanding Graduate Teacher of the Year Award.  Dr. Nelson has also taught at Louisiana Tech University, University of Texas at El Paso and at Brazil’s U. Federal de Minas Gerais, where he was a Fulbright Scholar.  Dr. Nelson earned a bachelor’s degree in Portuguese and a master’s degree in organizational behavior from Brigham Young University. He holds a doctorate in organizational behavior from Cornell University.
Richard Rivers - Professor of Accounting, School of Accountancy
Professor Rivers joined the College of Business in 1978, and has held several leadership positions including Associate Dean from March, 2000 to July, 2007. He earned a bachelor’s degree from Southern Methodist University and master’s and doctoral degrees from Kent State University.  In addition to teaching in the SIU School of Accountancy he has been active in an international initiative to re-invigorate the College’s Asian programs in east Asia.  Dr. Rivers’ teaching interests include management accounting and control systems (masters level), accounting information systems, advanced cost accounting and introductory and intermediate financial accounting.  Dr. Rivers has taught at the Harvard University Extension School in Cambridge, Mass, every summer for the past 11 years.
